workofartcoaching presents:
O Fart.
Coaching With A Sense of Humor.
(cause we see it too…)
Welcome to the O Fart Project.
You can’t have a Work of Art without a few O Farts.
This is a place where we celebrate failure, laugh at our mistakes, practice loving the gross we make, and get back up to go for it again!

Share your O Fart
We’d LOVE to hear (not smell) your
O Fart Moment
Tell us all about a:
glorious failure
magnificent defeat
embarrassing faux pas.
How do you feel about it? What’s there to learn? How can we support you to get back up?

O Fart Origins
When I had the idea for the name of my coaching program, Work of Art Coaching, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. It as inspired by a card I received years ago. A beautiful abstract painting highlighted the words, “To me, you are the work of art.” I was touched beyond belief and that sentence resinated in my mind. It combined all I believed: That making art is worthy work and that seeing ourselves as THE work of art, no matter what we make, is a priority that leads to health and not sacrificing the artist for the art. I loved it all.
Until I typed it into a website:
workofartcoaching.
I saw it right away. Fart. There it was right in the middle. If only f wasn’t so tall. If only I could capitalize the A! But immediately after I saw it, I burst out laughing. Who in their right mind would want the word fart right in the middle of their brand?
Me. That’s who.
Before I broke up with dairy, let’s just say I was known for some epic farts. When fundraising for a heartwarming but irrevernat comedy series, we used the actronym come F. A. R. T. with us:
Financial Aquisitions Require Teamwork. It was catchy and gross, silly and fun, and it mirrored the humor of the show. (And it worked. We suprassed our target goal, made the show and won some awards! Farting worked!)
And the ideas of Work of Art were more powerful than that silly fart in the middle.
And even more, as I sat with it I realize that the phrase “O Fart” really had something. It encompassed a cheeky (sorry) way to recognize a mistake, even a failure. It was a fun way to look at something and say, “Well, darn.” And getting comfortable with mistakes and failure is the WAY FORWARD to create a relationship with yourself and your art that works. It’s the WAY FORWARD in going after huge goals. It’s the WAY FORWARD in living healthy creative lives and making the difference we want to make.
So this is a space for us to celebrate our loses! Celebrate our mistakes. Celebrate and embrace our failures AS THE WAY FORWARD. I’d love to hear what you’ve really gone for, only to say, “O, fart!” when you fell short. By celebrating here, we’ll be able to laugh at ourselves, support and encourage each other, and gather up all that stinky mess, let it go and try again.
I hope you will join me in celebrating your farts here. I know I will.
